Frequently Asked Questions
Are these products you use safe?
We only utilize substances that have been given aquatic use approval. When used as directed on the label, these chemicals are safe for use around people, animals, and fish. Fish are typically most at risk from oxygen loss caused by decomposing dead plants. At each treatment, the homeowner or primary contact will be provided a treatment receipt identifying the chemicals treated to the pond and any temporary water use restrictions, such as those preventing swimming or irrigation.
How long does a pond treatment last?
The weed(s) treated and the environmental factors in the area determine how long the control will last. Runoff, bright sunlight, and rain all have an impact on how well a treatment works. Throughout the summer, a treatment is often required every 15 to 30 days.
How long will it take to see results after my pond has been treated?
The weed(s) treated and the environmental factors in the area determine how long the control will last. Runoff, bright sunlight, and rain all have an impact on how well a treatment works. Throughout the summer, a treatment is often required every 15 to 30 days.
What types of chemicals are used?
Systemic and contact chemicals are the two types that are used. Systemic herbicides penetrate the weed(s) and kill it(them) from root to tip. Only the weed(s) they come into touch with are killed by contact herbicides. Contact herbicides are applied to weeds that have a single life cycle per season and work more quickly.
When do treatments start for the season?
When thinking about a chemical application, temperature is a consideration. To ensure that plants and algae are actively developing, treatments won't start until the water temperature reaches at least 55° F. Additionally, warmer weather encourages the activation of aquatic compounds. Each scheduled treatment will be preceded by a notification to the homeowner or primary contact.
